Led Visions: A 30-by-8-meter business card

At Led Visions, they’re seeing screens increasingly blend into the overall stage design. From festivals and corporate events to television studios and international sporting events: LED has become an integral part of the show. And Led Visions is showcasing this at the entrance to Festivak this year. “Above all, we want it to make an impact. A real eye-catcher for people as they walk in.

“We owe a lot to the people who create the visuals. Without them, our screens wouldn’t have nearly the same impact.”

Behind the Scenes at Led Visions
We spoke with Nicolas Pairon of Led Visions in Beerse, Belgium. He’s a passionate professional with a busy schedule, so it took some time to find an opening in his calendar. But once on the line, he was happy to talk about his company and the possibilities of LED.

At Led Visions, it’s all about the hardware: the screens, the structures, and the technology that keeps everything running. The creative content? That comes from other parties. And Nicolas is remarkably down-to-earth about that. Because no matter how impressive the structure may be, without good visuals, it ultimately remains just a collection of LED panels. “We owe a lot to the people who create the visuals. Without them, our screens wouldn’t have nearly the same impact.”

Big, Bigger, Biggest
A project usually starts with a sketch from an organizer or designer. They’ve conceived a stage or set and know where the LED screens need to go. Then it’s up to Led Visions to figure out how that can be technically realized.

And those plans aren’t getting any simpler. Organizers are increasingly asking for unique shapes, larger surfaces, and technically challenging structures ranging from a few rectangular screens to complete LED installations of all shapes and sizes. For Led Visions, this means constantly figuring out how to turn these creative plans into reality.

From festival stages to tennis arenas
That Led Visions doesn’t shy away from a major challenge is evident from one of their international projects. For the ATP Finals in Turin, the company built an impressive LED structure at the entrance to the fan village. And to say it was “making” might be an understatement: Nicolas explains that the structure was a whopping 113.5 meters wide and 11.5 meters high.

But LED has more to offer than just impressive dimensions. While light shows really come to life in the evening, LED screens can be used all day long . “Organizers are increasingly asking for LED screens. You can use them all day, whereas lighting really comes into its own in the evening, ” says Nicolas.

From live footage and game scores to spectacular animations, brand activations, and visual content that transforms an entire venue. Whether it’s a festival, sporting event, exhibition show, or corporate event: the possibilities are endless. And yet, bigger isn’t always automatically better. Budgets are under pressure, and not every organizer has an unlimited budget. That’s why Led Visions works with clients to find ways to execute a design more intelligently or efficiently, without unnecessary costs.

Good people are worth their weight in gold
The biggest challenge these days lies not only in the technology, but especially in the people who have to work with it. According to Nicolas, it has become much harder to find good technicians since the pandemic.

The company operates with its own team of about fifteen employees, supplemented by fifteen to twenty freelancers and external crew companies. Especially for large productions, where setup times are tight and different disciplines are working simultaneously, a good team is indispensable. After all, no matter how many square meters of LED you have on hand, without the right people, you won’t get it up in the air on time and safely.

Led Visions x Festivak
During Festivak, Led Visions demonstrates what’s technically possible. “At Festivak, we’re building a large entrance that’s thirty meters wide and eight meters high. Completely freestanding,” says Nicolas. They’re doing this in collaboration with the Dutch company VeeMee, which is handling the creative design. So it’s not a modest showcase, but a real eye-catcher.

With this structure, Led Visions primarily aims to showcase the quality of the material and the technical possibilities. After all, you can certainly explain what you can build with LED, but it’s much more effective when people see it for themselves. And, of course, Festivak is also a great opportunity to make new contacts. “We believe we need to be here. And of course, we hope to come across some interesting leads.” Anyone walking into Festivak will certainly find it hard to miss. And that’s exactly the point.
